Science
At Christ Church our main aim is to foster a sense of excitement and curiosity about Science whilst increasing children's awareness and understanding of the world around them.
We believe that Science is central to many aspects of life and that children should be encouraged to look at the world as scientists.
At Christ Church we believe that children learn most effectively through ‘doing’ and we teach this core subject through topics or themes with a hands-on, creative approach.
Where possible Science is taught in a cross curricular way. Therefore, Science, Maths and Computing have a close working relationship, as reflected in our STEM week.
Our central location, variety of learning spaces and range of resources allow us to teach a varied and engaging science curriculum. The Underfall Yard, M Shed and We The Curious are within walking distance and have provided rich learning opportunities for the children at Christ Church. The practical room and activity hall allow us to invite experts in for talks and workshops, including the ‘Explorer Dome’ and Liquid Nitrogen workshop. The completion of The Outdoor Classroom has also allowed children to become fully immersed in their science learning.
