This week in Design and Technology, Year 2 finished making their new chair for Baby Bear. They worked independently to make a stable chair that would support Goldilocks’ weight. After making, Year 2 reflected on their making and evaluated their product to see if it was strong, sturdy, and stable (this was part of our design brief). They discussed the need to make their chair aesthetically pleasing and decided that this could be done by illustrating the seat or adding colour to the legs. Year 2 also discussed the most successful designs when given the same materials and how the use of lolly pop sticks could strengthen the seat and ensure the legs remained rigid. It was great to hear the terminology of this project being discussed throughout the unit – product, user, stable, design brief, aesthetically pleasing, etc - great work Year 2!
