Years 5 and 6 spent one afternoon this week learning how to play the ground bass of Pachelbel's Canon in D. They had glockenspiels and xylophones and did a really impressive job of the first 8 bars. As a challenge, some children learnt the first 4 bars of the melody, ready to play it once the ground bass had played first. All of this is part of their unit on baroque music.
