Message from Mrs Jones 3rd April 2020
Dear Parents/ Carers,
As we arrive at the end of the second week of school closure I’m sure we are all looking for ways of getting through this difficult time. Fortunately, so far the weather has been kind to enable us to step outside and get some fresh air and exercise.
There have been times though when it has been easy to feel overwhelmed by the news and the feeling of ‘I’m sure I should be doing something.’ We are so used to being busy and following a routine. Whilst establishing a routine is a positive step towards creating a sense of comfort and security in your home it won’t matter if it isn’t followed rigidly. If you still have no idea who Joe Wicks is, don’t worry no-one is going to hold you to account.
What I’m trying to say is that there are so many materials being released to guide and support us all-which is just fantastic! However, explore them at your leisure otherwise we could all disappear into the internet, spend our time flitting between advice and miss what is going on around us.
The artist David Hockney has released some of his paintings this week one it titled Do Remember They Can't Cancel the Spring. Who knows I may even dabble with a daffodil sketch myself this weekend!
Take care everyone

The teachers have prepared some suggested activities for the coming week which may be found in the Homelearning area of our school website, again dip into what you would like to do. After Easter at the start of term 5 we will invite the children to share photos of what they have achieved with their teachers. Teachers will not be marking and returning work but will enjoy seeing what the children have been doing and they will comment in their weekly updates on what they have seen.
In term 5 we will provide guidance about how to respond to your children’s work for those parents/carers who would like this.
The popularity of some of the resource websites has caused some access problems. Mrs Richardson says, ‘We are aware that some people are having issues downloading books with Oxford Reading Buddy. We believe this could be because of the volume of people downloading books. We have been in contact with Oxford about the issues that some of our families are experiencing - Oxford say that they are working on the issue and hopefully will have this fixed by the beginning of next of week. It is an issue with Chrome. Try and open the programme in ‘safari’ or ‘firefox’. If you are having trouble downloading see our list of other sites you can use for access to free reading books on the ‘Home Learning’ page.’
Mathletics Support for Parents
Supporting parents is crucial for distance learning.
As teachers are setting activities in Mathletics we know a few families have completed the activities but the message is not disappearing and they cannot access the rest of the programme. This appears to only happen when using it on a ipad or tablet. After looking at it and exploring the help guide it looks like a glitch in the old app. If you are finding this delete and reload the app and it gives you the new updated app and the problem will no longer happen. Hope this helps

The Chronicle, from Christ Church Primary School is a daily video cast to keep our family and friends entertained during these strange times. There will be laughs and smiles, riddles and challenges and special guest reporters. Check out SZapp for the daily link.
We will continue to keep in contact during the Easter ‘holiday’ period, the virus won’t take a break so neither will we.
Pastor Ruthy is preparing an Easter message to share with our community via SZapp and website next week.
The local Education Authority are sending out via schools a directory of agencies that are there to support should you need advice and guidance. We have included links to these on our website Home Learning page at the bottom of the w/c 6th April page. They are about 100 pages long so just scroll through or ignore until there is something you need help with.
