Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope this letter finds you and your families well after the first week of school closure and increased social distancing measures.
On our school website we have a Home Learning area which has a bank of ideas of how to support your child’s learning at home. The teachers in each year group team have compiled suggested activities for literacy, numeracy and the wider curriculum. They have considered what the children would have been learning in school but these cannot replace the teaching that would have taken place.
The activities are linked to online websites and further places to find support and ideas. Children will all respond differently to doing ‘school work’ at home and their enthusiasm, we are sure, will ebb and flow. Some children will want to be very independent about their learning and may rebuff your support and eagerness to help, as school is normally ‘their place.’
Please don’t feel pressurised to do everything on the week’s ideas sheet and there is certainly no need to get stressed about it- a big row is the last thing needed now. Instead be happy with whatever is achieved and aim to build it up each day.
Try a very simple daily routine where your children can see they have breaks and time to relax in between their school work.
We have also collated a bank of literacy and numeracy websites that may also be of support. Many of these are websites that the teachers use to support their teaching.
The year group Home Learning ideas will be posted weekly. Next week we will upload some Easter themed activities.
We hope the weather continues to be kind so that we can all benefit from some fresh air.
We have run our school provision for the children of our keyworker families for the first week and the staff team have been so positive about ensuring we can support in this way.
If you have some critical information to share, we are monitoring the school email address and SZapp daily. We have heard of some fantastic examples of how classes are linking up using social media in a positive and kind way.
We are all thinking of you and send our good wishes at this difficult time.
Yours sincerely
Clare Jones
