We began our week wishing Year 5 well as they journeyed to Kilve Court for school camp. The children were a delight to take away embracing the great outdoors, fresh air and mud! Thank you to the staff team; Mrs Brown, Miss Barsby, Mrs Rowe, Miss Cator, Mr Curry and Miss Dando who accompanied the children and those who supported back in school.
We were challenged at the start of the week when we were unable to access the internet. The staff ably adapted their plans and contingency communication plans were in place. Mrs Castle’s class, 4KC led class assembly demonstrating that technology isn’t always needed and first hand communication is key to developing presentation skills.
At Christ Church we couldn’t let Sport Relief 2020 pass without making our contribution thank you for your donations. Mr ‘motivator’ Campbell made an appearance and we reached of the top of Mt Everest!
We look forward to seeing you for parents’ evenings next week. If you find you are unable to attend your appointment please do inform the class teachers or school office. You should have received a google form if you wish to raise a particular question on the evening.

This year Christ Church took on the goal of stepping up to Everest. The target was set at 58070 steps to reach the 8848m summit. From the early calculations, we have reached the summit of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest peak, stay tuned next week for our progress to Everest. I must say a huge thank you to the Year 6 Sports Team, who were awesome today, supporting with scoring, demonstrating what to do with the little ones and generally helping make the day so much fun.
Thank you to AiP for supporting our Sporty Day with the Smoothie Bike! Well done to the children who cycled hard throughout lunch producing delicious fruit smoothies for all to try and share.
Thank you for the donations - we have raised £280 for Sports Relief
Bristol Flyers Take Year 4 By Storm
With Year 5 away on camp, Year 4 had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a PE session run by the Bristol Flyers! We put our dribbling skills to the test and tried our hand at defending. We also learnt how to hold the ball correctly. Back in the classroom we learnt about sugar. We were shocked to find how much was in some popular drinks and we explored what this looked like by weighing sugar lumps. We had a brilliant morning, thank you so much to the wonderful coaches!
Year 3’s Taiko drumming is nearing a climatic crescendo! Watch out for our upcoming assembly at the end of term to showcase our new skills. Date to be revealed shortly...
Year 2 are loving learning about space and the solar system. We made some effective artwork by using soft pastels on blck paper. We practiced techniques of blending and applying layers of colour to our planets!
1CB Seasonal Changes Charcoal Drawing
1CB have been exploring the seasonal changes which we see in nature during the month of Spring. This week we observed the trees in the woodland area at the start of Spring. We then chose a tree to sketch using charcoal sticks and shading and smudging techniques. We will revisit and repeat this task at the end of Spring with colourful pastels!
