This week we have to celebrate our new Reception children who have stayed for school lunch and some children have attended for full school days. There have been many clean plates and the children have followed instructions really well- we are so impressed with them well done children.
Now we are a few weeks into term the teachers in Y1-6 have prepared their welcome presentation which briefly confirms the routines and early expectations for the year group. We would normally invite parents/carers into school for these, but we are unable do this at the moment. If you have any further questions please email the school office for the attention of your child’s teacher. These are in addition to the curriculum newsletters sent via Szapp and parentpay email on Friday 18th September. Parents/carers of Reception children have received a letter with some key information to support school routines.
Please ensure the healthy snacks the children bring into school for break or in lunchboxes do not contain nuts; this includes sesame. We have children in school with severe nut allergies.
Your child should have brought home an envelope on Monday 21st September with information regarding the delivery of the flu vaccination in school planned for 4th November-please return the form by Wednesday 30th September to the box outside the main school entrance
Please read the NHS test and trace letter below and also passed onto parents/carers via email and Szapp
The large play equipment is not to be used at pick up and drop off times. Children should stay with their parents please.
Please do not gather at the school gates once they are open, as some parents/carers find it tricky to exit/enter safely.
We will soon be launching our new school website- more information to follow, it will be compatible and link with Szapp.
This week Year 2 explored our 'Power of Reading' text 'Moth' through drama.
2RD had lots of fun acting out scenes from the book with masks and chimes to bring the story to life.
We rehearsed our lines and transformed into moths, predators, and narrators through role play. Here is a short clip of one of our performances. We loved being creative and building up our confidence.
This week in Year 3 we have dived a little deeper into life in Ancient Egypt! Our focus has been the River Nile and understanding it’s importance. To help us to do this we have created our own miniature River Nile’s! We will be flooding them each week and hoping this will help our crops to grow. We will post updates, keep your fingers crossed. The enthusiasm for this Topic is so positive, keep up the good work year 3!
Year 5 have had a wonderful week exploring how to think in role and express characters’ points of view. They held persuasive debates, both orally and written which then culminated in writing letters, in role, from the Grandma to members of the family expressing her perspective and feelings. These then got ‘delivered’ to a class member to create a return letter. The class text is The Matchbook Diary by Paul Fleischman. The finished letters are available to see outside Class 5HT.
5HT and 5WB have celebrated having all members of the class in school by taking their Class photos
